Oh the wind runs free across the endless plain And still it finds a place to rest Not because the sky grows smaller But because a home has found its ground Oh one shall stand and one shall hold Not above nor under the other But side by side against the wind Until the storms forget our names And let our hands shape more than just wood and stone Let them build a place where laughter learns to stay And where children speak of peace before they know of fear And strangers leave as close as family For every beam will lean on another And every wall will trust the one beside it Just as my soul has learned That strength was never meant to stand alone Oh beneath our feet there is a greater Rock One that no rain can soften No wind can carry away No season can wear thin Oh if He is our beginning Then let every tomorrow be another stone laid down Another prayer answered in quiet hands Another reason to keep building Oh and when the plains sing through our open door When the years have carved their lines upon our face May they find not two lives merely joined together But one home Standing because its foundation never moved
