Blessed day, my Empress

Thy natal day doth come but once a year Softly sweeping hence the weight of age my dear Oh this day the world in warmth and splendour lies Whilst Angels fair enrobe thee in Heaven’s lighted skies I pray this coming year shall hold thy gentle hand Through quiet tides and ever shifting sand And though not every path be wrought full clear Still shall I remain beside thee my dear Oh love was ne’er ordained as flawless still Yet blooms it sweetly through the vale and hill And even when the weary days grow long Our hearts shall learn yet more to flourish strong So may the Lord bless every step thou take Each smile thou givest and every dream thou make And may thy laughter evermore abide Like golden sunlight resting eventide Remember well this day is thine alone A day as fair as thou hast ever grown And as the passing years their course pursue I pray they bring yet more of me and you
